Dr. Mei graduated from Shanghai Second Medical College (currently as Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine) in 1982. She became a dermatologist after graduation.
In 1985, Dr. Mei came to the United States to study in the University of Notre Dame. She was actively involved in basic medical research on liver diseases. Since 2000, Dr. Mei has been awarded a New York Medical License and a Rehabilitation Pain Specialist Certificate through a US Department of Surgery and Rehabilitation Pain. She served as an attending physician and clinical associate professor at the Affiliated Hospital of Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Mei obtained a New York State physician's acupuncture license in 2007. Since 2009, Dr. Mei established her own clinic for integrating Chinese and Western rehabilitation pain in Manhattan, New York.

Dr. Mei started medical aromatherapy in 2014. Dr. Mei has a professional certificate of the world's plant essential oil therapy.
