Dr. Joseph Changqing Yang graduated from Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, China in 1984, and received Master of Medicine degree in 1987. Dr. Yang, as a visiting scholar, completed training in clinical psychiatry at Aichi Medical University, Aichi, Japan in 1990. He further studied 4 years course and received his Ph.D. degree in psychiatry from Medical School, Kobe University, Kobe, Japan in 1998.
Currently, Dr. Yang is a faculty member working at Alhambra Medical University, Los Angeles. Dr. Yang is practicing at his clinic at Santa Monica and lecturing for the CEU classes for the local and national associations. Dr. Yang is the Director of Mental Health Forum of ATCMA, President of American Institute of Mental Health in TCM, Deputy Director of Mental Health Committee of World Federation of TCM. Dr. Yang was a commissioner at Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture of Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), USA.
In the past decades practice, Dr. Yang is focusing on the internal medicine especially on mental disorders including schizophrenia, mood disorder, stress reaction and anxiety. His methodology is based on The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic, and has his own development, combining with ancient and western knowledge so that he plays his unique and effective role in the clinical practice. Based on the Inner Classic theory, Dr. Yang proposed the Ben Shen acupuncture, Ben Shen herbology, Ben Shen conservation and Ben Shen psychotherapy. His efforts have provided the systematic theory and treatment system to the TCM shen disturbance theory, and he hopes to learn more ancient wisdom, and continue to widely and deeply develop this theory to a new level.
